Meet our staff. A group of hard-working and dedicated teachers, who are passionate not only for what they teach, but for teaching itself. Their names are listed, along with what they teach in parentheses, and short biographies.

Sandy is the owner of The Dance Studio. She first got involved in dance at the age of three. She has twice performed at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Teaching dance, along with her family are her passions in life. Ms. Sandy has taught dance for over 25 years. She created the dance program for Romeo Community Schools before moving to the Parks and Recreation Department. Leaving there over 10 years ago, she is now living the dream with her own studio.

Andrew is currently a Dance Major at Oakland University. He has been dancing for 16 years, and has trained in every style of dance. The main classes that Andrew teaches are tap, jazz, and hip-hop, but he is also teaching ballet and technique classes, as well. Andrew is also the tumbling coach at the studio. Along with teaching at the studio, Andrew is a member of L.A. Dance Magic Company. This will be his second year working as a Company member of LADM. Along with this, he has won many titles such as Mr. Teen Sophisticated, Mr. Odyssey, and many other scholarships through various conventions and competitions.

Sean is our resident piano/vocal instructor. He has been a musician since the young age of 7, studying piano throughout his childhood and young adult life. Since then, Sean has been building a name for himself as a solo artist in the Detroit area. At a mere 21 years of age, he is an accomplished singer/songwriter/producer, and has much first hand experience when it comes to the current trends of the music business. On top of that, Sean's students and teaching styles continue to prove themselves at multiple music competitions and recitals throughout the year. More information can be found at www.seanearle.com.

He has been a professional musician for over 30 years. Rick is a member of Romeo's local band, Wayward Wind, performing covers around the area for years. He teaches guitar, bass and drums to students of all levels and ages. Rick also has released an independant album of songs written, produced and published by him. Vickie has been active in music in the Romeo Area for the last 15 years. She has performed in various local community bands. Currently, Vickie is teaching beginning to intermediate flute and piano students. She specializes in making learning music a fun experience the students. Vickie is also a
member of Starkweather Arts Center in Romeo.

Deni Long has been dancing nearly all her life. She started out at That’s Dancing in Fraser when she
was 3. After moving to Washington, she saw TDS dancing in the Peach Festival Parade and knew she wanted to join the studio. She continued to dance and compete at TDS until she graduated from high school. During her years performing with the TDS Company she won many regional and national awards. She was also on the Romeo Varsity Dance Team for 3 years. She is currently attending Oakland Community College, majoring in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and is a patient transporter at Troy Beaumont. She has taken several dance classes at OCC and is looking forward to sharing her love of dancing with the students at TDS.
Ms. Emily Stys (Dance)
Emily is a 2009 Romeo graduate and is currently a
Musical Theatre major at Oakland University. This is her 2nd year teaching at The Dance Studio
. She was part of Romeo Theatre Company for 4 years and a Choreographer for 3. She has been dancing for 16 years with training in Pointe, Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Modern. This year Emily will be helping with Vocal ensemble and Broadway classes, applying her knowledge and experience of Broadway vocal and dance techniques.

Chris has been a certified aerobic instructor since 1998. She teaches sculpt and pilates at our studio. Her specialities include sculpt, pilates, senior fitness, midlife fitness, injury prevention and exercise progression. She is also a personal trainer. Chris is teaching senior aerobics classes, as well.
Renee has been participating in Jazzercise classes for over 25 years. She is proud to be a part of the world’s dance fitness leader, which has been around for 40 years. Jazzercise is consistent with the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America’s basic standards and guidelines.
In 2006 she certified with Jazzercise as an instructor in Michigan, because of the passion and love she has for the program.
Renee has also attended workshops in Exercise Physiology, Anatomy, Body Composition and Dance Techniques.
In each class, Renee teaches a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga and kickboxing.
